In the Juniors first pre-season game the Youth team was split and they playrd in alternate fixtures with two fixtures on the same day, the first at Garforth Town and the second at nearby Swillington Welfare. In the Garforth game, Centre-Half Len Curtis gave United the lead after forty minutes with the only goal of the first half. Roberts replaced Ball at Inside Right and Carl Walker replaced Ryan Nicholls at Inside Left at Half-Time. Within three minutes of the restart Garforth had equalized and that was the way it stayed until the final five minutes of the game. Hightower replaced Chris Flear in the United's goal after seventy-four minutes. With four minutes left on the clock Damian Henderson gave United the lead and three minutes later substitute Clive Walker made it 3-1.
